Classification of Land as Agricultural According to the Florida State Statutes 193.461(3) (a), if an application is filed to classify a land as agricultural on or before March 1 of each year, and shall be used primarily for commercial agricultural use, then the land can be classified as agricultural land. The Citrus County Appraiser also has to ensure that the land was in use on or before January 1st, as this is the statutory assessment date. The application submission deadlines are therefore between 1st of Jan. to 1st of March, every year. Classification of land as agricultural cannot be transferred. In case the property is sold or transformed from one owner to another, then a fresh application shall have to be filed.
